I must say I haven't worn a digital since I was a young kid. I was looking for something that would stand up to my harsh abuse and still function atleast 5 years down the road. First Casio purchase didn't know what to expect I thought the price was ludicrous for a digital watch ,but I was mistaken. I put it through its paces when I unboxed it required little to no calibrating setting time ect. I immediately put the watch on covered it in dust then I caked mud in all the buttons and face. Left it that way for a good bit went washed it off just rinsed it nothing major. No malfunctions no worries it's built like a tank if you decide to purchase one you won't be dissatisfied. Size isn't a problem neither is weight really comfortable if you have small wrists need not worry it will still surely fit. Buttons are stiff but hell its a tank not supposed to be flimsy and lose. That's all I have to say about it if anything drastic or cataclysmic happens to it (which I highly doubt) I will update my review. Update- Watch is still going strong never went past the "H" for battery level and have used the compass and thermometer. Taking readings is easy and accurate especially if you update your coordinates periodically(best if you use all 3 calibrations true north and magnetic north you'll have to use lat. And long. so hopefully you can find where you're at in relation to those.) Temperature readings are accurate but best when you take the watch off set it out in the shade and wait 20- 30 mins. I'm always in the sun so can't tell you if I've actually drained the battery much. Buttons are now freed up timer and stopwatch work well. Alarms aren't loud but wake me up so they do their job. Moon phase is nice because it does let me know how dark it will be out here in the country and weather I can rely on my night sight or use a flashlight for navigation. Only had to reset the time once and it even says in the manual +-15 seconds a month so it might be a minute behind or fast. Other than then clearing somethings up that it watch is still a tank have had it banged around on metal wood cement and nothing happened thanks Casio for a watch that might just stand up through the test of time.Gshock makes a great watch. Lots of great functions, easy to learn & use. Holds multiple time zones, great watch.I am a big Casio Mudman fan. I have had both the G-9000 and the GW-9010, but got bored with the lack of features on those so I thought it was time to try the new 9300 Mudman. First let me say I love the watch, there has not been a day since I have received the watch that it has not been on my wrist. Even though I don't use features like the thermometer everyday, it is cool knowing they are there. I do like the moon phase, and for me it is worth it to spend a little more for this model vs. the GW-9010 just for the moon phase. Another big plus on this watch vs. the 9000 and 9010 is that the buttons on this watch are far easier to push that the other models. I have family who live in another time zone and love the fact that I can set this watch so that when I look at the main screen I can see both my time and theirs without pressing any buttons. It is really a great watch with great features. The reason I am only giving it 4 stars if because of the strap and buckle. I would rather have the double buckle and strap on the GW-9010 vs. the one on the 9300 any day. The buckle on this watch looks cheap and sticks out so far that I constantly catch it on my pocket when walking and swinging my arms. Had Casio done a better buckle or just kept the same one they had on the 9010, this thing would be a 5 star product all the way. All and all, I still think it is a great purchase and is the right Mudman to get. I am not outside all that much, and my battery level has remained on High. Good luck, hope this review helped a little but please feel free to write any questions.I got this watch at a discounted price because it did not have the manufacturer packaging. I don't know if that also means it was used but the only issue I would complain about the watch is the battery will never charge more than medium. It has a "Low", "Medium" and "Full" indicator for the battery charge. I let the watch sit all day in the sun one day and it never reached "Full" charge.I'm not going to list all the features of this watch because you can read them in the description. I will comment on a couple of the features that the watch has. First is the moon phase. I have used this feature a few times. If you are using your watch in a tactical situation or for hunting at night or other outdoor night activities it is nice to be able to look at your watch and see what the moon phase will be that night. Next is the compass. You will still need a real compass if you plan to do any land navigation. To use the compass function the directions suggest you take the watch off and lay it on something level. Not really useful if you have to take it off all the time while you are trying to navigate. Finally the thermometer. I have never used this. All though there is a way to calibrate it the directions suggest you take it off your wrist and let it sit for 30 minutes for calibration. The directions also suggest you take the watch off your wrist and let it sit for 30 minutes so you get an accurate reading for temperature. I can find no use for a thermometer that it takes 30 minutes to get the temperature from.Another issue I have, because I am old, I can't always see some of the information on the face. I can always see the time but things like the date are difficult to read because they are so small.Other than that the watch is an "Indestructible" G-Shock. It is well build and durable. If you are looking for a G-Shock find an instruction manual and look at the directions for using the functions you want and make sure the use of such functions will actually fit your needs before you purchase. If I were going to buy another G-Shock I would not pay extra for a compass or a thermometer.Been using G shocks all my life, this is the best model i ever had module 3261, twin sensors( compass and temperature, and moon phase. Made of very high quality, light weight, looks beautiful, was shipped from Japan. Genuine watch. Never take it off my wrist. I love it.This is my 1st G shock and I am really loving it. I have been using casio watches for long. The unique design and durability they offer in each price segment is amazing. Now coming to this watch I liked its look and style. I was looking for a G Shock with Solar powered cell becuase I have used other casio solar powered watches and experience was outstanding. The watch itself is thicker and wider but definitely has premium and compact feel to it.About the main features it has I will share my own experience as just a normal person living in city and working.- Digital compass is wonderful and gives accurate reading with 16 different points. It works for 20 secs then have to press again. I found myself using this feature 4-5 times a week- Thermometer may not be as accurate as a clinical thermometer but gives good indication of temperature. I am using this feature 1-2 times a week- Moon Data another handy one but this I use rarely.- World Time like other many watches it has several times zones but one unique feature is there to see a particular time zone with your current time zone in a single display window. This I use daily as my friends/colleagues work from other counties so I can easily see whats the time there without clicking anything.Other feature includes -- Hourly signal alarm good to keep track of time without looking at the watch. when it was 3.30 I last checked time and then I got busy and heard a beep I know its 4 now, time for some coffee. This alarm is very soft and subtle. You may miss it in crowded place.- Battery level indicator shows 3 levels of Solar charge. H is when it's fully charged. The watch powers up in light (Mine had been on "H" power level from unboxing time till now).- Power saving mode is a very good option in which watch auto switches off display when face down or kept in dark like closet, drawer etc and instantly display comes back on face up- Then we have timer, stopwatch, alarm, day, date and month display.- The backlight is strong in dark and there is also auto on-off feature which can be enabled.Temperature and Compass can be easily calibrated to get more accurate readings. There is no doubt about the quality of watch and strap itself. Quire durable and tough. If you like the look and overall features (best being solar powered) and need a bigger watch then go for it but if you are just attracted by features like compass, temperature, moon phase etc just think about how seriously and often you are going to use them before buying because there are other good G Shocks with sufficient features in lower price segments. Also look for random discount they put out. I was lucky as at that they were giving 20% discount. You will see price of Casio Watches are same across all valid online sellers/sites.This is the second G-Shock I have worn and there is nothing more one can look for in a digital watch1. Day-date-time (time keeping goes off by a minute or two over a period of, say 7-8 months. Accuracy is not something comparable to an atomic watch. Calibrating the watch every 6 months would be a good idea if you are really finicky about it)2. Lunar calendar (useful to remind which "paksha"it is, whether you would tread in a dark lane tonight, whether you want to hit the beach tonight, limited but still useful),3. Compass (a fairly accurate at that), thermometer (you can compensate for the body heat or allow the watch to come in equilibrium with ambience)4. World time (some 34 time zones, useful if you are travelling outside India and still want to keep a check on home country time)5. Stopwatch (much much better than the crappy and useless analog chrono watches - I hate all of them)6. Alarm (you can set up to 5 but largely it's a useless feature given the inaudible beeps from a tiny insect like a watch, you just cannot rely on the alarm feature of this watch if you don't want to miss an early morning flight)7. Illuminator with a cool greenish blue light (you can as well set the time how long illumination remains on after pressing the button)8. Water resistance (They say upto 200 M, but there are not many aspiring to be deep sea scientists here, the watch is practically weather sealed.I have used the watch for the swims and it breaks no sweat. Mud Resistance is also a nice addition. I have used the watch while playing at the beach and with clay with my son. Just wash it under the tap water and it's all like new again)9. Build quality (looks decent but you still need to handle with care, the watch cannot accompany you to the Armageddon, the resin band allows you to sweat to your to heart's content without removing the watch)10. Ease of operation (you can operate the watch, change settings without even referring to the user manual, 5 dedicated buttons are good enough to invoke the desired function without too many button presses11. Solar cell - Even if you don't expose the watch to sun or light for months, nothing bad is going to happen. The power level indicator display (H, M, L) is handy. If the power level drops to L, simply expose the watch to direct sunlight for an hour and the power level is back to normal. The "Power Saving" mode is a nice sleep mode feature embedded in the watch's software that saves power effectively12. Price - I would say the watch is not exorbitantly priced at Amazon India. My effective price (including an ICICI Bank promotional cash back of thousand rupees) was 7.5 K, which made this watch truly affordable to me. Contrast this with Casio's Protrek series, the watches with very similar features are priced upwards of 12-13 K.The only con would be the thickness of the watch and thus banging the watch against wall and other surfaces inadvertently becomes a potent risk. Also wearing the watch with full sleeve shirts is slightly odd. But that is something you need to decide before buying a G-Shock since the makers had to design a sturdy watch and beef it up the with extra cladding. Happy G-ShockingI've owned G-Shocks all my life. I replaced my earlier 7-year-old G346 with the Mudman G342. And it is brilliant. I just love the solidness, the heft, the huge dial and the bold lines.Contrary to popular belief, these digital watches do go well with formals. It just draws attention to the masculinity when you go around wearing a suit and that watch.I hope this watch lasts as long as my previous G-Shock.Update: I've owned this watch for 2.5 years now. The battery level has never dipped below High. It's still an understated classic. Very muted, but macho. I still have people glancing at my wrist these days. I remove this watch only to shower, it's that much a part of me now.Second Update: After almost 3 years, I've decided to upgrade to the Rangeman G485. This watch still has High battery level, possibly because Indian sunlight is sufficient to keep it fully charged always. I'm gifting this after some cleaning and servicing to a younger cousin. He's now a new G-Shock fan and I'm starting him off in a big way with this brilliant watch. The durability and VFM is heavy in this one.Build quality 5/5Delivery 5/5I bought this watch for myself and I’m pretty happy with the purchase. The battery level was medium when it arrived and after keeping the watch near the window for two days the battery was fully charged. I was able to register the product on the Casio website with the provided serial number and had no issues at all. Pretty good experience overall. Go for it.Likes- fully featured pack. Appearance. Liked everything. Very durable... Best thing... It can be charged though tubelight or bulb too... Read the manual for charging time.Dislikes - moon clock is not accurate. Wanted hour indicator. Temperature and compass.. is bit acqurate.
